Arlington, MN -A hot day and night provided some hot steamy racing action and found new cars in victory lane. Only two feature winners did not win their heat races, the rest had bragging rights for a clean sweep of the night. Although the car count was a bit low, the fans witnessed some great races.
There were three different leaders in the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature with Dan Probst the first leader and then Brad Becker. By lap 6 Cory Probst had control of the lead and stayed in front while Becker and Chad Volk each battled for the 2nd spot. Volk was able to hold onto 2nd and Becker took 3rd ahead of Jordan Robinson.
Dale Gatton had a clean sweep for the night as he won his heat and feature in the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compacts. He started on the front row and stayed there the entire distance. The lone incident was when Gary Schumacher pulled off the back stretch with mechanical troubles.
Craig Groebner won his first career win the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature, he also won his heat race in a last lap pass. He started on the front row and held tight the entire 15 laps holding of Garett Uecker for the win. Jesse Anderson took 3rd place.
The Arlington State Bank IMCA Northern Sport Modified feature had a little extra action. Matt Schoenke led the first lap, then a 2nd lap caution came out when the 1J of Joey Reimers spun in turn #4. On the restart, Bryan Spaude got around Schoenke and took the lead, then the next lap Zac Davis stopped on the track with a flat tire. Ben Reierson then got around Spaude and took the lead and led the 11 laps to win the race. Jeff Lloyd moved up from his 8th place start to challenge Reierson but settled for 2nd ahead of Eric Larson.
Andrew Allen won his first ever Rice Companies IMCA Sprint feature leading from start to finish and also taking a clean sweep for the night. He went high in turn #2 and the 1300 of Dad Brett tried to dive under him but he held lead each lap. Mike Stien took 3rd and Brayden Allen took 4th place.
Ryan Bjerkeset was also a clean sweep winner in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car class but not without a fight from both the 30 of Dave Moriarty and 99L of Curt Lund. The cars were four and five wide coming out of turn 3 and on lap 6 got a bit too close as the 18 of Chris Neisen got loose and contact was made between Dan Eckblad and Dan Mackenthun ending their night. On the restart, Bjerkeset took the lead again and a few laps later Lund had worked up from his 10th place start getting closer and closer. On lap 16 he crossed the line in first but then going into turn 2 he got too high and fell off the track. Bjerkeset regained the lead with Moriarty in 2nd. Lund was able to recoup to take 3rd place ahead of Gage Seehafer.
The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature was marred with mishaps. On the first lap, Mark Noble driving the 99 car pulled off the track on turn four. Then the 74j of Jason Schroeder stalled on the track and there was a multi car mishap. On the 4th lap, Clint Hatlestad had troubles and pulled in. The following lap Wayne Govig spun out causing a yellow flag. When the cars relined, Dan Menk took the lead and led for the next 14 laps . On the 11th lap Trent Loverude pulled off the track with a flat RR tire and Govig also spun again sending him to the pit. With 5 laps to go, Porter was able to get around Menk and win the race also picking up a clean sweep as he won his heat race too.
