Holtmeier Construction Night

Arlington, MN -Once again intermittent rain showers early Saturday morning created havoc on the track conditions for the Holtmeier Construction night at the Arlington Raceway. Although a second lap yellow flag on the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby race caused Cory Probst to go the back of the pack, it didn’t stop him from once again moving forward and passing 15 cars to win the race. By lap 3 Brad Becker was the leader of the race with Ben Davis following suit along with Chad Volk as they all raced neck and neck until the 8th lap when Probst got around him and took over the race. On the white flag lap Chad Volk made a last lap pass and took 2nd ahead of Davis and Becker had to settle for 4th at the line.
The Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact went flag to flag with Gary Schumacher taking the lead from the 2nd row and never looking back. He was challenged by Dale Gatton for the distance but Gatton took 2nd ahead of Justin Schelitzke.
The Olson Snowplowing and Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby had a tough time getting past the first few laps as there were a series of yellow flags. Craig Groebner was the early leader, a first lap yellow occurred when Garret Uecker spun coming out of turn #2. The following lap, Fred Heidecker had troubles putting him in the pit. Uecker went to the work area and made it back out. A couple of laps later another mishap occurred putting Karl Hewitt in the pit area. Half way through the race Mark Oestreich took the lead after the last restart and stayed the commander for the duration to win. Kris Flewelling moved up from his 8th place start to take 2nd place from Groebner and Uecker managed to take 3rd place.
There were three different leaders in the Arlington State Bank IMCA Northern Sport Modified feature as Cole Hesse and Bryan Spaude both starting on the front row and each led for two laps. Then Eric Larson who had started right behind them slipped by Hesse first and then the next lap got around Spaude to take over the race. He led for the next 10 error free laps to win. Joey Reimers had a good finish as he captured 2nd ahead of Zac Davis.
Matt Hasara used his starting spot as a great advantage taking the lead right off. Brayden Allen drove off the track into the work area on lap 5 when his belts became loose. He was able to resume the race but then the following lap, Hannah Graf and Andrew Allen tangled in turn #1 causing Andrew to rollover, he was ok but both cars were out of the race. When the race restarted, Hasara once again led but now had Matt Johnson to look out for. He tried to close the gap but couldn’t gain enough on Hasara and went on to win his first race. Johnson took 2nd ahead of Brett Allen.
Dakota Robinson was doing a great job in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature leading lap by lap with plenty of distance between him and Brent Uecker who had started behind him. The close race was in the mid field between Matt Speckman, Ryan Bjerkeset, Dan Mackenthun and Dan Eckblad. All of these drivers wanted to get to the front and work their way forward. Speckman took the top spot on lap 7 as he got around Robinson and then Bjerkeset took the high side in turn 1 and 2 and got around Robinson also. But the following lap, Robinson had engine troubles and pulled off the back stretch ending his night. That gave Bjerkeset clear sailing to gain on Speckman, but he too got too hot and pulled off the track. Dan Eckblad then had the top spot in his sights but he also had to holdoff Dan Mackenthun who had moved up from 8th place to gain on them. Speckman didn’t let off and crossed the line first with Eckblad behind him and Mackenthun, while Uecker held on for 4th place.
Rick Nelson led the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature for the first two laps and then JJ Reimers got around him to take the lead but it didn’t last long as Clint Hatlestad was fast and took over the lead on the 4th lap with Dan Menk who had started 7th joining the front of the pack. Chad Porter joined the mix after a car spun out causing a restart. A few yellow flags slowed the race down but didn’t change the position of the cars as that is how they finished with Hatlestad winning, Menk taking 2nd and Porter finishing in 3rd ahead of Reimers.
Only two cars finished on the lead lap of the Jerry’s Home Quality Foods Auto Cross feature as five cars dropped out during the race. Parker Wiggert got a gift when Emily McConnell who had led the entire distance had troubles with only one lap left of the race. Wiggert won his 2nd feature of the year as that set Parker up with 1st place and Nick McConnell took 2nd place. Jake Trebesch was the first one a lap down but he still took 3rd place.
