Pepsi of Mankato & Toppers and Trailers Plus Night
Close finishes provide great racing action as the season winds down at the Arlington Raceway. The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature was an awesome race with Dan Menk and Clint Hatlestad racing side by side throughout the race. Fifth place starter Chad Porter led the first three laps and then a yellow came out when JJ Reiemers and Todd Brockman tangled. That gave Hatlestad the opportunity to pass Porter at the start on the bottom side of th. Hatlestad was out front for the following 4 laps when another yellow came out which then enabled Dan Menk to pass Porter. After that restart Menk and Hatlestad raced the duration side by side around the track with Menk nosing ahead of Hatlestad for the win. Trent Lovrude followed the duo to take 3rd place and Porter picked up 4th.
The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature was exciting as the nineteen car field started the race. A first lap crash in turn #4 occurred when Dakota Robinson who had been in 3rd place was rounding the corner and spun out in front of the field, with no where to go, five cars were victimized. Chris Neisen and Garett Uecker were unable to resume the race as they had too much damage but the others were able to restart. On the restart, Jeff McCollum took the lead and was out front for 7 laps until he fell off the pace and went into the pit area with engine problems. That gave the lead to Jed Trebelhorn. Lap by lap he held onto the lead with Ken Tietz who had been in the early crash racing with him. On lap 12, Tietz took over the lead on the backstretch as Trebelhorn put pressure on him every lap. With only 3 laps to go, Kelly Shyrock who had advanced 8 spots was able to get by Trebelhorn but two laps later he pulled off the backstretch into the pit area. Trebelhorn was again in 2nd place but didn’t have enough time to catch Tietz as he crossed the line first to capture his first win of the season. Trebelhorn took 2nd and Dan Mackenthun took 3rd from his 10th place start.
The Arlington State Bank IMCA Sport Modified feature was a heartbreaker for Bryan Ben Davis. He was the leading the race and on lap 6 as he drove into turn #2, he oversteered and his car spun around in front of the field. Broddy Enter had been in 4th place and had no where to go but right into Spaude. That ended the race for both drivers as they both had severe damage. That gave the lead to Jeff Carter, behind him the Ben Reirson and Eric Larson where working to overcome Carter but he pulled away on the backstretch and took win. Larson was able to finish ahead of Reierson to take 2nd.
The Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature saw Jonathon Schroeder lead the first two laps of the race until hardcharging Cory Probst moved up from his 9th place start and took the lead from him. A couple of caution flags on lap 9 came out when first Nate Oulman spun out and then the 7D of Tyler Domeier spun and the 420 of Dan Scharpe. After all those spinouts, the race resumed with Probst the leader but now he had Dillon Richards to contend with as he got around Schroeder at the start. Probst was able to hold on and take the win, Richards in 2nd and Schroeder took 3rd ahead of Ben Davis.
First lap mayhem happened during the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature as Alan Lahr got a little wild in turn #2 and made contact with two cars, the 21s of Tim Senne ended his night. At the same time, Lahr’s car started on fire ending his night. Once the race resumed, Gary Schumacher was the leader but by the 6th lap Dale Gatton took over the race. On the white flag lap, Gatton’s car popped out of gear which put him to the tail end and gave the lead and win back to Schumacher. David Marshall took 2nd and Justin Dose took 3rd place.
The Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw feature saw 5 yellow flags throughout the race. On lap 6 Garett Uecker spun in turn #2 causing a yellow. A few laps later the 99 of Zach Wisch spun out bringing out the caution. When the race restarted the 5c of Kenny Johnson spun out causing yet another yellow and then the 85t of Dustin Thuerenger got a flat tire causing a yellow. While the green was on, Dan Mackenthun driving the 34 car and starting on pole position took the lead right off and stayed the leader for the 15 lap distance to win. Mark Oestreich followed him to the checkered and Rod Manthey took 3rd place.
Colten Landwer was the early leader in the caution free Jerry’s Home Quality Auto Cross feature but had troubles with only 1 lap to go in the race and did not finish.
