Dakota Robinson Const., Robinson Trucking & Robinson Auto Repair Night
Lee Goos Jr. had a clean sweep for the 45th anniversary sprint car race at the Arlington Raceway on Saturday night. He started on the pole and never looked back the entire 25 lap distance to capture the win and the $ 4,500 prize money. There was a first lap caution when the 88 of Nate Thelen spun so the field relined up and restarted. Zach Glaser got around Gunner Pike and was running in 2nd until lapped traffic got in the way and enabling Bill Johnson to take 2nd ahead of Trevor Serbus. The top 3 cars were all slicing and dicing through traffic until lap 18 when Glaser got too high going into turn #4 spinning off the cushion. He then exited the track. The race started and with Goos on the point, Serbus in 2nd and Johnson in 3rd. Another caution came out when Hannah Graf’s steering broke as she was entering turn #2 spinning her around. She was then out of the race. On the last restart, Gunner Pike was able to pass Johnson once again to take 3rd place as Goos and Serbus flew around the track distancing themselves from Pike with lapped traffic. At the end, Goos captured the win, Serbus took 2nd, Pike in 3rd and Bill Johnson in 4th with Matt Johnson rounding out the top 5. Brett Allen is the track champion in the division and Cary Zacharias won the mechanic race in the sprints.
Matt Speckman won his 100th feature in the B&B Racing IMCA Stock Car feature which went caution free. There were four different leaders with Shaun Bruns taking the lead from the front row, soon the 00 of Ryan Bjerkeset passed him. He led for 7 laps and then Josh Larson who had started 9th was putting pressure on Bjerkeset and got around him in turn #2 going down the backstretch. By lap 15, Speckman was up next to Bjerkeset gaining spots by driving the high side of the track. Lap by lap, Speckman was gaining on Larson, the two were racing side by side for the last few laps until the lap that counted as Speckman was able to pull away and take the win just feet ahead of Larson for an exciting finish. Dan Mackenthun won his 15th championship in this class and Jonathan Schroeder won the mechanic race.
Jeremy Mills jumped to the lead in the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature but coming around for lap 2 Dan Menk took control of the race. He led until Trent Loverude got around him and the two exchanged spots two more times until Loverude had issues with his car and drove into the pit area. That once again set Mills and Menk to exchange leading the race but on the last lap Mills took the checkered ahead of Menk with Todd Stinehart taking 3rd. Trent Loverude is the track champion in this class and Ken Tietz won the mechanic race.
Fifteen cars started the Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature but only 10 finished. Tim Bergerson was the first lap leader and then Joey Reimers got around him to take over the race but a 2nd lap caution came out when Cole Hesse and Mathew Schoenke made contact and ended their race. Reimers once again took the lead on the restart but hardcharging Broddy Enter who had started 10th had his sights on Reimers and was able to pass him on lap 5 to take over the lead. Jeff Lloyd also moved up through the field but Enter had distance with lapped cars in between the cars. Enter won the race and the track championship. Lloyd took 2nd in the race and Ben Reierson took 3rd. Tyler Chouanard won the mechanic race in the 75 car.
A first lap caution occurred in the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature which took out both Fred Heidecker and Karl Hewitt. When the race restarted, Dan Mackenthun piloting the 39x car led from start to finish to win the race. Garett Uecker who had started 8th moved up to challenge Mackenthun but had to settle for 2nd and Jesse Anderson took 3rd place. Mark Oestreich is the track champion and the mechanic race was won by Aaron Simmons.
Alan Lahr led the entire distance of the Coors Light Sport Compact feature to win the event and the track championship. Gary Schumacher exited the track on lap 2 with car troubles ending his night. Brandon Backstrom raced in second the entire distance.
The Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature saw two different leaders. The first was RJ Esqueda taking the lead. A first lap yellow came out when Dan Scharpe spun in turn 4. The race restarted and Esqueda was able to take the lead once again, three laps later Cory Probst who had started in 11th took over the race and win. He also won the track championship. Esqueda held on for 2nd ahead of Brad Becker. Nate Manderfield won the mechanic race.
The EZ Wash & Storage Truck Cross race was fast as Josh Compton took the lead on the first lap from his 2nd row start and led the entire 8 laps to win ahead of Cody Sievert and Mitchell Penaz. The track champion in this division is Cody Sievert.
The Jerry’s Home Quality Foods Auto Cross saw a battle between Josh Krogman and Colten Landwer. Krogman led the first 6 laps of the caution free race with Landwer in 2nd. As the white flag was displayed Landwer got around Krogman to take the win and Nick McConnell followed him for 2nd while Krogman crossed the line in 3rd. Nick McConnell is the point champion in the division.
The Rustman kids had a great night as Silas won the Hess Technology Jr. Sportsman feature and the track championship and Noah won the Hess Technology Jr feature with Jase Schroeder winning the track championship. Travis Manderfield won the Hess Technology stock feature and the track championship.
